Born: -
Shot to death: April 18, 2022
Residence: Mohalla Khatikaan, Meerut
Origin: India
Children: -
Perpetrators: Anshu and Sagar Khatik
In December 2021, Jackie (aka Patwari) from Mohalla Khatikaan married his opposite neighbor girl out of love without her family's permission. They went to live together in part of Jackie's parents' house. Jackie's relatives often criticized the newlyweds, which in turn led to anger among the girl's family.
On April 18, the conflict escalated. Anshu and Sagar Khatik, the girl's brothers, forced their way into the house and shot Jackie dead, then beheaded him. Their sister, who was alarmed by the screams and wanted to save her husband, was stabbed with a knife. She survived the attack and was taken to the hospital.
Police arrested both brothers and remained active in the area for a long time because of the tensions between the parties.
We look forward to receiving information.
What is an honour killing? |
An honour killing is a murder in the name of honour. If a brother murders his sister to restore family honour, it is an honour killing. According to activists, the most common reasons for honour killings are as the victim:
Human rights activists believe that 100,000 honour killings are carried out every year, most of which are not reported to the authorities and some are even deliberately covered up by the authorities themselves, for example because the perpetrators are good friends with local policemen, officials or politicians. Violence against girls and women remains a serious problem in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Serbia and Turkey. |
